MEMORIAL FAKE MOON

‘Fake Moon’ is the beautiful new cut from folk-pop duo Memorial. It’s a bold track that puts Ollie Spalding’s lead vocal at centre stage, as he wanders into personal lyrical territory. Over the course of its modest two-minute runtime, the pair never feel the need to move away from a simple acoustic guitar accompaniment, letting the track speak for itself. “This song was originally written in a first-person perspective, but we had such a strong feeling of not being alone in this situation and that focusing on the self, takes away from the gravity of the sentiment, so we decided to change it,” they say. “For people who hear themselves in this song, I really hope it makes you feel less alone.” Memorial’s self-titled debut album drops this year. -Dan Peeke
